Welcome

The Chronicle is live trivia you play on your phone. Each round, questions appear one at a time and you answer against the clock — the faster you are and the more you get right, the higher you climb the scoreboard.

Host a game for friends at home and everyone competes as individuals — or join a friend’s game with their code. There’s a full rundown on the next screen.

How it works

The Chronicle is a live quiz you play on your phone with friends.

  1. One person taps Host a game for friends, signs in, and starts a game (3 rounds of 5 by default, or customise the rounds, timer and categories). They get a join code and a QR.
  2. Everyone else joins the game directly — scan the QR, or type the code above under “Playing with friends.” Here you play as individuals, not teams.
  3. The host runs each round from their phone and plays along too. Put the TV view on a big screen to show who's leading — by name.
  4. When the game ends, the TV reveals a recap of every question and its correct answer.

Each correct answer earns points scaled by the question's difficulty, plus a speed bonus for answering quickly and a streak multiplier for consecutive correct answers. Miss one and you'll see the right answer with a link to read more. Signed-in players keep lifetime stats — every game, every score, and the questions they got wrong — under “My stats.”

๐Ÿ“บ  How do I put the scoreboard on my TV?

The big-screen scoreboard (the “TV view”) is just a web page, so anything that can open a website can show it. On the Host screen you’ll see an Open the TV view link and a QR code for the big screen — that link (it ends in /tv.html?g=YOURCODE) is the address you open on the TV. Scanning that QR with your phone is the quickest way to grab it. Then pick whichever fits your setup:

  1. On the TV, open the web browser app — on a Samsung TV it’s called Internet.
  2. Click the address bar and type the TV link, e.g. triviahost.online/tv.html?g=YOURCODE, then press Enter.
  3. Bookmark it so it’s one click next time. (If your Samsung model has no browser app, use screen mirroring instead — see “Other ways” below.)

Apple TV has no web browser, so you mirror a device that does:

  • iPhone / iPad: open Control CentreScreen Mirroring → choose your Apple TV, then open the TV link in Safari and turn the phone sideways.
  • Mac: click Screen Mirroring (the AirPlay icon) in the menu bar → choose your Apple TV, then open the link in your browser and make it full-screen.
  1. Plug an HDMI cable from your laptop into a spare HDMI port on the TV.
  2. On the TV remote press Source / Input and pick that HDMI port.
  3. Point the laptop at the TV: Windows — press Win + P and choose Duplicate; MacSystem Settings → Displays → mirror the display.
  4. Open the TV link in your browser and press F11 (Windows) or the green full-screen button (Mac) so it fills the screen.
  • Chromecast / Google TV: open the TV link in desktop Chrome, click the โ‹ฎ menu → Cast… → choose your TV.
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick: open the Silk browser app and go to the link.
  • Phone mirroring: Android — Smart View / Cast; iPhone — AirPlay (to AirPlay 2 TVs).
  • Any spare laptop, mini-PC or Raspberry Pi plugged into the TV with a browser open works too.

Whatever you use, the page updates itself live — leave it open and it follows the game from the lobby through to the final scores and the answer recap.
